COURSES (JUNIOR)

JUNIOR SUMMER VACATION COURSES

The EIE team have been organising junior and teenage courses for over 20 years and have an excellent reputation for providing a balance of quality programmes with value-for-money. From our experience we realise the importance of offering summer courses that include an English language study programme which stimulates and interests the young mind, and an activity programme which has variety and is fun, fun, fun!

And Malta is a perfect place to combine English study with fun! It is a very safe island, the people are friendly, helpful and welcoming, there is plenty to do and see, it has a typical Mediterranean climate so lots of sun and is always full of English-speaking people from many countries around the world.

Tuition

Our Academic team have designed materials which are based on the ‘communicative approach’, concentrating especially on improving speaking and listening skills, developing pronunciation, building vocabulary and learner training so they will be able to learn more efficiently both during and after the course. The materials include much about Malta so the students can also learn more about the culture, history and important places of the island. We believe that the students must take full advantage of their stay in an English-speaking environment so they must be encouraged to speak and listen as much as possible. Our qualified teachers use a combination of course books and our own EIE developed materials to provide these opportunities. On the first day you will take a test designed to assess your level of English; then you will have an ‘induction’ class, which gives you lots of information about living in Malta and what you can do when you are here; then you are placed in an international class of your level. You will also meet the EIE team so you know who to go to when you want advice or if you need help.

Activity Programme

Learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom! The Activity Programme is designed to provide students with an opportunity to practise English with students from other countries while having fun! Many of the afternoon activities involve the sea because of the climate. In the evening it is time for the famous Maltese nightlife! All activities on the programme led and are accompanied by EIE Group Leaders, who are trained to motivate the students, encourage them to mix with other nationalities, to make new friends and to speak in English! We know how important it is for us to take care of the younger students and look after their safety and welfare so we offer a 24-hour emergency number.

Typical activities on the EIEM programme are:

• A Welcome Party
• An Orientation Walk on the first day
• 1 half day trip to Golden Bay sandy beach each week

Trinity
We offer the possibility of doing the Trinity College Exam, which is an internationally recognised qualification. You can take the exam during your stay but this must be organised in advance and is subject to sufficient numbers of students taking the examination on the island - we co-operate with other school to increase the possibility. It tests your spoken English and your will receive a Trinity College Certificate.

You can choose to do special extra classes to prepare for the Trinity exam but take the exam back in your own country.
